2020 Year End Summary

Writer's picture: Matt CitakMatt Citak

Despite the restrictions of this year our chapter continued to hold our monthly meeting/prayer meeting !

We have been bolsterd in our faith by the fact that God has brought several new members who we believe

will lead our chapter into whatever God has for us to do in the coming decade.

One of those Godly men is Mark Sztanyo who on a dreary October day shared with us the words which follow:

Here is a bright devotional I just wrote to cheer you up today.

  1. Psalm 97:11 (NIV) ….. Light shines

“Light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.”

God being light is more than a metaphor, it is synonymous. Today, it is a grey Fall day. And it is so common that the gloominess of the weather has an impact on your attitude. I remember many a day going to work to fly and the weather was not very lovely. One such day started at O dark thirty in the dark and gloom and as we were in climb-out after takeoff we remained in the “goo” (with cloudy instrument visibility all the way to cruising altitude). Now, as the weather continued to impact on our flight it would seem that our day would remain of one in the dull drums. I guess that is much like life itself when we find ourselves in a rut. It often seems that it is going on forever and nothing will ever change.

Yet, as we flew south toward our Miami destination we broke out in the clear to enjoy spectacular scenery all about. A hurricane had made landfall over Tampa area during the night and was centered mid-state over the Orlando area. Interestingly enough, two things were evident; the hurricane’s cloud height was now much lower than our 37,000’ cruising altitude and its power and wrath were weakening. Our flight path took us directly over the eye. This was my first time of being a quasi ‘hurricane hunter’ flying in the path of a hurricane albeit from a very safe and smooth overflight position. The “light,” shining on the center eye of this storm, was phenomenal! And the visual that we had was simply awesome!

We passed through the miserable gloom of lousy weather into an airborne scene of spectacular beauty and significance. All made possible to even see, because of the “light.”

1 John 1:5 NIV “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” I would repeat that……God is light! When we are in a gloomy spot, a dark place when we are flying in the “goo,” just remember that there is light, and spectacular light indeed, by simply drawing closer to God. Bask in the rays of His enveloping light, and EVERYTHING including our very attitude will improve.

Revelation 21:23 “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.” He is the light of the world!

God Bless,
